Revisiting the Acoustic Interaction Force Problem in Acoustofluidics 

Acoustic interaction forces govern particle aggregation, organization, and collective dynamics in many acoustofluidic systems. In this talk, I will present a multiple-scattering formulation for the acoustic interaction force between two particles confined to an acoustic nodal plane. The model was developed with the support of AI-assisted analytical and computational tools and will be compared with commonly used approximate formulations. Particular attention will be given to the extent to which these models reproduce experimentally observed particle interactions. Remaining discrepancies between theory and experiment will be discussed in terms of neglected scattering contributions, hydrodynamic effects, particle properties, and experimental uncertainties.
