Some research directions in the Mechanics of Microstructured Solids and Structures

In this talk, I will present some of the research directions that I performed in the last two decades ranging from modelling and design of dynamics behaviour and damage propagation in slender structures, control of wave propagation in micro-structured media (cloaking, chiral lattices, polarizers, elastic filters), advanced materials and structures (negative Poisson’s ratio and thermal expansion composite structures) and advanced problems of solid mechanics (moving contact problems).

Bio: Prof. Michele Brun is Professor in Solid and Structural Mechanics at the Department of Mechanical Chemical and Material Engineering of the University of Cagliari, Italy. His research interest is in the broad area of mechanics (elastic waves, dynamics of microstructured media, metamaterials, structural mechanics, contact mechanics, composites, homogenization in finite elasticity, material instabilities, integral equations, numerical methods, extended variational formulations).
